Former President Donald Trump has reportedly ruled out supporting Bitcoin Vivek Ramaswamy as his vice presidential candidate, eyeing him instead for a potential Cabinet role.
What happened: Trump personally informed Ramaswamy that he was not being considered for the vice president post. However, roles such as secretary of Homeland Security are on the table. Ramaswamy, a Bitcoin Bitcoin/USD supporter and critic of Central Bank digital currencies (CBDC), is seen as a strong candidate due to his public speaking skills, Bloomberg reported.
Trump is said to be looking for a running mate who can provide a significant advantage in his race against the president Joe Biden, without craving the limelight. Other people impressing Trump for potential Cabinet roles include the governor of North Dakota Douglas BurgumRepresentative Elisa Stefanikand former U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

Because matter: Ramaswamy, a biotechnology entrepreneur, has announced his campaign for president in the 2024 election and has been seen as a potential candidate who could defeat Trump in the primaries. In January 2024, Benzinga reported that Trump was moving closer to securing the GOP nomination, with Ramaswamy among the potential vice presidential picks.
Ramaswamy has been vocal about his concerns about CBDCs, fearing that a digital dollar would give the government too much power to target dissenting individuals by freezing their assets. He said he expressed his concerns to Trump.
