The new “Mispadu Stealer” variant emerges.

Researchers have come across a new variant of the stealthy banking Trojan known as Mispadu Thief.

Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 team recently discovered the infostealer, which targets regions and URLs associated with Mexico, while looking for attacks that exploited the Windows SmartScreen bypass vulnerability CVE-2023-36025.

Mispadu, first discovered by ESET researchers in 2019, continues to evolve and change tactics.

To combat the threat of Mispadu Stealer infections, Unit 42 researchers emphasize that a “comprehensive, multifaceted approach to cybersecurity” is essential. “This approach includes staying informed about the latest threat information, employing robust endpoint protection, and promoting a culture of cybersecurity awareness among users,” the researchers wrote in their report.
