Deadline reported it Reagan was picked up for North American distribution by ShowBiz Direct, making it the recently launched studio’s debut. ShowBiz Direct is led by trade show veteran Kevin Mitchell, former Lionsgate distribution president Richie Fay and former Open Road distribution co-president Scott Kennedy.

“I’ve had my eye on this film for a while. Dennis Quaid does an amazing job portraying Reagan,” Mitchell said, adding that the goal of ShowBiz Direct “is to help bridge the gap between the creative community and exposure, while also embracing theatrical release of films in a very transparent way. Reagan has been sought by many and we are happy to have been able to reach an agreement with Mark Joseph and his team.”

Reagan is the first full-length biopic about the former president and follows him from his childhood to the White House. It opens with an elderly Viktor Petrovich (Jon Voight), now in his nineties, being visited by an up-and-coming Russian leader who comes to him asking how he lost the Soviet Union. Quaid “admired” Reagan

Quaid has previously admitted that he was initially confused when he was offered the role of Reagan.

“I didn’t understand why they offered me Ronald Reagan because I just didn’t see him,” Quaid told Entertainment Weekly. “I admired him so much, and so I had a shiver of fear down my spine when he was offered to me. It’s usually a sign that maybe I should do it, because it’s out of my comfort zone.

Reagan Producer Mark Joseph, however, knew from the beginning that Quaid was the perfect person to play the former president.

“He already has the right look, and then he had that smile and that optimism, the kind of thing you can’t make up for with hair and makeup,” Joseph said of the actor. “Honestly, if you magically told me you could have any actor you want in Hollywood or Dennis Quaid, I literally would have chosen Dennis Quaid.”

Despite what liberals say, Reagan was one of the best presidents our country has ever had, so it’s time to finally make a biopic about him. Quaid should be applauded for defying liberal Hollywood to make this movie honoring Reagan, and it will definitely be interesting to see what he brings to the role!
