Tesla Inc. TSLA CEO Elon Musk on Friday expressed willingness to hire OpenAI, Microsoft Corp. MSFTAND Jeff Bezos after investing 675 million dollars Figure AI Inc.an AI startup that is working on building the “world’s first autonomous humanoid robot.”
What happened: Responding to the founder of Figure AI Brett AdcockMusk welcomed the challenge, although his response went unanswered by Adcock.
Adcock believes his AGI-powered humanoid robot is the “ultimate deployment vector.”
“If not already obvious, Figure’s humanoid robot is the ultimate deployment vector for AGI.

Musk then proposed Optimus, Tesla’s humanoid robot that is currently being worked on, as a rival to Figure’s OpenAI-based humanoid robot.
Some users have drawn a corollary from the science fiction film “Real Steel”.
Optimus is Tesla’s humanoid robot. The company gifted him in December with better hands, allowing him to grasp delicate objects like an egg without crushing them.
Although Musk thinks robots will one day build more robots and Tesla cars, among other things, Optimus still can’t find a missing sock.
Because matter: Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot has been in development for two years now. Although it is not yet autonomous, Musk believes his company will catch up with him in the future.
In fact, during the Q2 2023 earnings call, Musk announced that Optimus will become capable enough to do “something useful” in Tesla factories in 2024.
In early December, the Optimus robot appeared in a video showing him firing at a Cybertruck. That got users on social media excited, with Musk saying, “We might make this real next year,” but later backtracking, saying “that would be scary.”
