‘Desperate Housewives’ Star Felicity Huffman Laments College Admissions Scandal After Death of Her ‘Old Life’

Former “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman served 11 days of a 14-year sentence in 2019 for her role in the infamous college admissions scandal dubbed “Operation Varsity Blues.” Now, Huffman is speaking out to play the victim, claiming that she still feels the repercussions of this scandal years later.

Huffman speaks clearly

“I walk into the room with it. I did it. It’s black and white,” Huffman, 61, told the Guardian. “How am I doing is kind of a tricky question. As long as my kids and my husband are okay, I feel like I’m okay.”

Fox News reported that Huffman went to prison for nearly two weeks after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. This occurred after he bribed a college readiness expert for $15,000 to alter her daughter’s SAT scores to get her into college. In addition to the prison sentence, Huffman was ordered to pay $30,000 in fines and complete 250 hours of community service.

Five years later, Huffman believes her Hollywood career has suffered as a result of the scandal.

“I recently did a pilot for ABC that didn’t get picked up. It was tough,” she said. “Kind of like your old life died and you died with it.”

“I am in no way hiding what I did, but some people were kind and compassionate,” he added. “Others don’t.”

Huffman went on to say she feels “grateful” for her daughters Georgia, 21, and Sofia, 23, who she shares with her husband of 27 years, William H. Macy of Fargo fame.

“I’m lucky enough to have a family, love and means, so I had a place to land,” he admitted.

Huffman reveals why she took part in the scandal

Huffmann had already explained why he chose to take part in this scandal back in December.

“People assume that I looked for a way to game the system and make proverbial back-alley criminal deals, but that wasn’t the case,” he said at the time. “I worked with a highly recommended college counselor named Rick Singer. I worked with him for a year and I trusted him blindly; he recommended programs and tutors and was the expert.

“And after a year, he started saying, ‘Your daughter won’t get into any of the colleges she wants to.’ And so I believed him,” she continued. “When he slowly started to lay out the criminal plan, it seemed – and I know it seems crazy at the time – that this was my only option to give my daughter a future. I know that Hindsight is 20/20, but I felt like I would be a bad mother if I didn’t do it. So I did.

It should be noted that, as the daughter of two wealthy, Oscar-nominated Hollywood stars, Huffman’s daughter certainly has a better chance of “a future” than the vast majority of young people in this country, particularly in Joe Biden’s America.

Huffman’s next role

Huffman is now looking to put all that behind her, as she prepares to play the role of Paige, the mother of a transgender child, in the revival of Taylor Mac’s “Hir” at London’s Park Theatre, which will run from February 15th to March 16th. she fondly described Paige as a woman who only recently pledged allegiance to the “LGBTTSQQIAA” community, which she pronounces as “Luggabuttsqueeah.”

“Paige has the enthusiasm of a new convert,” Huffman said of Paige. “She IS a fanatic, but in a good way. She has been contained for so long and now she is free. If she thinks something, it comes straight out of her mouth.

Do you think Huffman should be forgiven or is it right for her to continue to be targeted by cancel culture? Let us know in the comments section.
