Reality has finally arrived for Trump and the Republican Party as a majority of voters believe the former president committed serious crimes.

According to the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, a majority of voters believe former President Donald Trump committed “serious federal crimes.”
53% of likely voters said they believed this, while 39% of respondents said they did not believe Trump committed serious crimes. 9% said they did not know or did not answer the question.
The numbers broken down by party affiliation show that 90% of Democrats believe he committed serious crimes, while 17% of Republicans fall into this category. Forty-nine percent of independents share this sentiment.

Trump can rant and rave every day outside the courthouse and on his social media platform about how the trial is a political conspiracy to get him, but the majority of voters don’t believe it.
The big number to watch is what independents think about criminal proceedings against Donald Trump. Already 49% of independents believe that Trump has committed serious federal crimes. That number could skyrocket if Trump is convicted in Manhattan.
If the former president loses the majority of independents, along with 17% of Republicans, he will not be able to win the election.
The idea that criminal charges helped Trump has always been a political drift.
The reality is that most Americans already think Trump has committed serious federal crimes. A conviction in Manhattan will make Trump ineligible.
