Stephen Colbert pointed out that Trump seems to be taken aback by his own speeches and doesn’t seem to know what they contain.
Colbert played a clip of Trump saying, “You know, we won this state. We have won a lot in this state. And the result is that we actually won this state.”
The Late Night host responded: “It’s pretty bold to go into a state where you lost and tell the audience that you actually won. It’s like running into your ex and saying, “Amanda, hi.” You look great, which of course I know because it turns out we’re still together. We’re still together a long time.’”
Colbert played another clip of Trump, “Remember, 10:00. Everyone calls me. They’re saying, “Congratulations, sir.” And then at 3:02 in the morning there was a lot of dumping.

Stephen Colbert responded: “Lots of landfills. So, just a normal evening for Donald Trump. There were times when it was obvious that this was the first time he had seen the speech. Like this moment.”
Trump: “Everyone’s leaving. Just last week, Master Lock (I buy Master Locks) closed its doors…. Now I won’t buy them anymore.”
Stephen Colbert responded: “He kind of took himself by surprise there. “And Charles Manson…good guy, great musician, killed a lot of people, and that’s why he’s bad, I guess. Lock him up with a Master Lock, which we don’t use.’”

Not only is Trump now chained to his teleprompter for every speech he gives, but he apparently doesn’t see the speeches before standing in front of the crowd and reading the words like a bad actor who needs cues to remember his lines.
The Republicans have chosen as their presidential candidate a guy who can no longer formulate his thoughts off script. Trump was captured. His first day of campaigning in weeks was a disaster, as his campaign is expected to drive him underground until his April 15 criminal trial.
